Who are you? Ali Muhammad Kowaja

What is your role in the show? What does that involve? I’m an actor, and in this show, I play the role of Jay.
Have you been involved with Walterdale Theatre before? No, this is my first show with the theatre.
What do you think is the best season for a wedding? Spring 100%. I love when all the colours come back. The weather is really pleasant. It has culturally marked a new beginning, which is what a wedding is. If you eat a lot of food, as you should, you can go for a run and not feel bad.
Have you ever been at a wedding where something went wrong? I have a wedding proposal going wrong story. I was supposed to sneakily give the groom-to-be the wedding ring, so he could propose to my best friend and bride-to-be. The setup was perfect, and the rose circle was set at Moraine Lake, AB. My job was to bring them to the rose circle without suspicion, and then give the ring to the groom. I did everything as I was supposed to – set up the circle with my friend, and brought the bride and groom to the circle. As I reached into my pocket to get the ring for my friend, I realized I had left it in the backpack. What happened next is a blur. I made some weird noises and ran. Everyone was confused. Luckily, I made it back before they reached the actual circle, gave the ring, and then the proposal happened.
Why should audiences come to see Stag and Doe? To have a good laugh and a good cry. It’s a show about family, community, and all the things that should not really happen in a wedding happening anyway.
