Walterdale Theatre wishes to thank the Alexander family for their generous donation, in honour and in memory of Shelley Superstein Alexander (1952-2022), to the success of our work in our 65th season.
Shelley was born and raised in Edmonton and deeply loved the city, its people, its parks, and its arts community. She was a fabulous actor on stage and screen and gravitated towards certain kindred characters whom she played multiple times: Puck in A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Yente the Matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof, and Olive in The Odd Couple: Female Version, which she performed at the Waterdale Theatre in 1991. This role, and her subsequent connection with the cast, crew and staff here, ignited a deep love for this theatre. She loved its community feel, its wonderful performances which she frequented, its funky fire hall doors, and its proud history as an Edmonton theatre institution. She moved to Victoria in the late 2000s, but always kept a special place in her heart for the special space that is the Waterdale Theatre. She is deeply missed and remembered by her children, grandchildren, and other family and friends as an exuberant, creative, loving, and generous free spirit.
This donation will support the following Season 65 projects:

- Four moving-head LED lights for the theatre
