Hi, Kat! You’re the Stage Manager for Glengarry Glen Ross. What does that entail? My duties include but are not limited to: assisting the Director and Assistant Director during rehearsals, communicating the needs of the show to production staff, tracking props, and working with my Assistant Stage Manager to support the actors with line notes, blocking tracking, and anything else required to make the show a success. I then become the person in charge of the production during the actual performances. I am here to make sure everything runs smoothly and all the talented people involved are happy and able to do their jobs!
What brought you out to this show? Why did you want to be a part of it? Curtis has been pitching me this show for years. It is a brutal, ugly and engaging look at the seedy underbelly of the sales world. Mamet challenges us to relate to relate to and learn from these cut throat angry men. It is a fascinating study of masculinity, competition, and the battle for the almighty dollar.
What do you think audiences will take away from this show? Why should they come and see it? Everyone has at least one bad sales experience, either as the salesman or the client (read: victim). It unifies us. I hope the audience will walk away with a little bit more of a humorous view of their own experience.
Got any funny/weird/disturbing stories about selling and buying? I love to use telemarketers as an opportunity to practice my improve skills!
