What is your role on this production? I am the sound designer for this show. This involves creating effects and/or using music in different scenes to help establish the different places that Jeffrey (along with other cast members) go throughout the play.
What is your background in theatre? At Walterdale? While I started my theatre life as an actor, I’ve been doing sound design for different theatre projects since 2003. To date, I have done sound design for close to 70 different shows, many of these have been at Walterdale. I am also a playwright and a director. My newest one-act play, The Runner debuts after Jeffrey finishes (at La Cite on Friday February 27th)
Why did you come out to work on Jeffrey? What drew you to the production? Kyle Thulien (and Sarah Van Tassel) approached me in November to do this show. I managed to free up time in my schedule to do this.
What is the most fun/enjoyable thing about working on this show? I always get a kick out of creating sound effects that enhance a show. There were plenty of opportunities to do this in Jeffrey.
What is the most challenging thing about working on this show? More specifically, it’s how I’ve managed to balance all of my projects that are happening at this time of the year. Fortunately, I’ve been able to sandwich the rehearsals for The Runner around the tech requirements for Jeffrey. Who needs sleep anyway?
