What is your role in this production?
The character I am portraying is Steve Howard, the love interest of Jeffrey. My character is a pretty relaxed, gets what he wants kind of guy, but with a history that makes this character unique and loveable!
What is your background in theatre? I have been acting in theatre productions for about 7 years now, on and off for the last 3 years with traveling and job opportunities. This will be my first production with the Walterdale and I couldn’t be more excited and blessed!
Why did you come out to audition for Jeffrey? What drew you to the production? When I read the synopsis for the play off the Walterdale website I didn’t really grasp the storyline and it wasn’t until I actually read the script as a whole and imagined the characters and their stories and their life, THAT’S when I decided I needed to audition for this show! I felt like this was a great story that I wanted to be a part of.
What do you think a play like Jeffrey offers to an audience? Honestly, this is a tough question ahah. I believe that this show will offer to our audiences a look into what it was like back in the 90’s, during the HIV cloud and how hard it was to love someone. It will offer a unique funny/romantic/dramatic look into the lives of so many people, that others were afraid to think about or ask.
What is the most fun/enjoyable thing about working on this show? THIS CAST, where do I begin ahaha. We have all bonded so much and created such a great chemistry between one another. I always say you know you love your job when you are excited to head to work and you never know what is going to happen and we have created that exact environment. It’s amazing!
What is the most challenging thing about working on this show? I would have to say the most challenging thing I had to overcome was stepping out of my comfort zone and stepping into the gay lifestyle that I knew very little to nothing about it at the time, to make sure that I wasn’t stepping on anyone’s feet or making fun of anybody in anyway.
