What is your role in this production? I play the part of Violet Bradman, wife of Doctor Bradman and friend to the Condomines. The Bradman’s are a happily contented couple. Although her husband scolds her for being a ninny sometimes (I mean who hasn’t opened their mouth and popped their foot straight in!?) I believe Violet is a genuinely lovely lady who is tickled pink to witness a séance.
Why did you come out for Blithe Spirit? I originally auditioned for the role of Madame Arcati and was offered the part of Mrs. Bradman. It felt right though! Perhaps Violet and I are kindred spirits!
What is your background in Theatre? My husband got me involved with Walterdale Theatre about 5 years ago and I’ve been happy to serve on the Board as well as cater the “feasts” for opening nights, meetings and any other time we host our members. I only took up acting a few years ago and have been having fun participating in the One Acts and the Fringe. This is my first full-fledged production here at the Walterdale. I love being a member of this theatre! Where else are you actively encouraged to act out and dress up!?
What do you most connect to about the play? I love the unexpected!
Blithe Spirit involves ghost and psychics, got any good ghost stories? Knock on wood I have never met a ghost, apparition, elemental or poltergeist … YET!
What do you enjoy most about doing a Noel Coward play? I love Noel Coward’s quick and witty banter, the speedy pace and side long glances. The challenge for me? Keeping up with the quick pace! Although I think I have perfected the art of the side-long glance, after all I have been married for 34 years!
What are you enjoying the most about this production? I love meeting new people and I have been blessed with that in this production. I’m learning – new terms, new methods, a new accent! Did I mention the costumes!?! I have always loved playing dress up!
